Toshiba Qosmio T851

Toshiba Qosmio T851 is the latest and a very cool laptop that will be up for sale from July. Toshiba officially announced the release of the laptop today in a press conference. The most amazing and unique feature of Toshiba Qosmio T851 is its capability to display 2D and 3D content at the same time on just one single screen.

Toshiba’s new 3D window technology has been put to use in its design and this will give the laptop to show 2D and 3D content without the use of 3D viewing glasses. On one window you would be able to view high quality 3D images or play 3D games and on the other window you could watch 2D images as well and that too simultaneously. There would be no need for any special glasses or any special panel to view 3D content and at the same time you could go on with your own usual business.

Toshiba Qosmio T851 - How it works?

Our eyes send 3D images to our brain and work with the technique of parallax. The basic principle is to view the same thing from two different angles, that’s it. The Toshiba Qosmio T851 also applies the very same principle to display 3D images. It delivers two separate images of the same content to the left and the right human eye. Toshiba Qosmio T851 employs a ‘Face Tracking’ function and ‘Active Lens’ to do the trick. ‘Face Tracking’ will detect the face using the web camera and recognize the positions of both the eyes. ‘Active Lens’ controls the polarization of light emitted by the panel. And together they send the images accurately to the correct eye and present a 3D image. If you turn off the Active Lens, your panel will display normal 2D  images as usual.

2D to 3D conversion.

Toshiba Qosmio T851 also makes use of SpursEngine which is a dedicated image processor. It boasts real time conversion of the 2D to 3D images and produces high quality 3D images from 2D terrestrials. Toshiba recently introduced ‘Face3D’ which makes use of sharp speed and high accuracy face detection technology to recognize faces and then applies a human depth template. This gives the images on the screen more depth and makes the image look 3D. ‘Caption Stabilizer’ detects any captions in the image and all captions are kept at the front.

Toshiba Qosmio T851 will be sold in July and will surely be up for grabs in the market.
