Google Chrome Netbooks, also know as Chromebook is about to be launched by Google. It runs on Chrome OS. The most interesting thing about this OS is that its Cloud Based. In simple words could means the Internet. All the user data and applications are stored on the internet. Being Cloud based gives Chomebook some advantages but it have some disadvantages too. We’ll discuss more about that a while later, first lets look at the first two models of Chromebook which are about to be release shortly. The first models are built by Samsung and Acer.

The best thing about Chromebook is its booting speed. Its said that it takes only eight seconds to boot completely.
As I said earlier lets talk some more about the Chrome OS. You must have mainly heard about and used Chrome as an internet browser. So what Google did is it took this browser a step ahead and turned it into an OS. And made it to work completely on the internet. So we can say its a browser-based operating system that relies heavily on web apps.
However, the platform includes a file manager, notification system, integration with Box.net for cloud storage and both Netflix and Hulu for entertainment.
The major advantage and disadvantages of chrome book revolves around its web-centric cloud computing approach. The advantage is, if your netbook is stolen or lost you need not to worry about your data, as its safely stored on the internet. You just have to bring a new chromebook and you are good to start again from where you leaved earlier.
And the disadvantage is, if you are unable to connect to the interent you will not be able to use your netbook. Supposedly you are at a place where there is no internet connection. You will then be unable to work on your netbook.
But to eliminate this disadvantage google is planning to also launch offline versions of some of the popular app of chromebook including Gmail, Docs and Calender. So you can even work offline if required.
This was a brief overview of the new Chromebook and its Cloud Based Operating System ‘Chrome’. Do let us know your views in the comments below.
