The HTC EVO 4G was a revolutionary phone and served as the shot in the arm both Sprint and Android needed to be real contenders in the smartphone market. Earlier this week Sprint finally confirmed the details on its entry into the tablet market with the HTC EVO View 4G.
Features and Specs
The HTC EVO View 4G is the Android powered tablet many Sprint fans have been asking for. It features a 1.5ghz next generation snapdragon processor and 1gb of RAM. The EVO View 4G uses sense 3.0, which includes a new visually entertaining 3D scrolling UI. The tablet features a 7-inch LCD that is the same size as currently available Samsung Galaxy Tab. This means you can watch movies in HD with a screen large enough to enjoy the film but still small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. The EVO View 4G also features a 5-megapixel camera on the back that allows the tablet to take HD videos. The EVO View 4G also features a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera perfect for self-portraits or video chat.
What Sets It Apart
One of the things that makes the EVO View 4G different from most of the other Android powered tablets currently being released is that’s it’s running 2.3 Gingerbread the OS meant for phones, rather than 3.0 Honeycomb the OS meant for tablets. Another distinctive features is what HTC calls “Scribe” technology, a special pressure sensitive pen input that allows users to write down notes or draw directly on the screen. The Scribe software is preloaded on the device but the pen needed to utilize it will be sold separately for $80.
Price and Availability
Sprint announced that the HTC EVO View 4G will be available online and in store on June 24th. The EVO View 4G will retail for $400 on a new 2-year contract and pre orders start today.
