ASUS G74SX-A2 is the latest 17-inch gaming laptop introduced by ASUS which is equipped with a mighty Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Processor. It also features a discrete NVIDIA GeForce chip with 3 GB of RAM. I guess that ASUS G74SX-A2 is inspired by Stealth-Fighter vehicle.
The design is awesome as I have mentioned the inspirational design from a stealth vehicle. But, I am wrong and the design of ASUS G74SX-A2 is inspired from the US Navy’s Sea Shadow Stealth Ship. The superb black color, the angles, and the sleekness of the laptop make it awesome. With a soft-touch rubberized material, the lid is covered making it smooth and feels like an overall sense of quality. Just below the ASUS silver logo, you will find a ASUS Republic Of Gamers logo.
In addition, at the top of ASUS G74SX-A2’s deck you will find a speaker bar, power button and Power4Gear Hybrid Key. This key is a shortcut for the users to switch between various power settings. The models which are loaded with 3D display, this key usually enables or disables the system’s 3D functionality. The ASUS G74SX-A2 weighs 10 pounds and measures 16.6 x 12.8 x 2.3 inches.
The Touchpad and keyboard of ASUS G74SX-A2 is nice as at first glance you will notice that the keyboard and number pad is are separated by a roughly 1-inch column of empty space and the system’s directional keys are at the bottom. The good news here is that the setup of the keyboard is somewhat like a standard desktop keyboard which provides gamers with enough room to use the combination of keys with an ease. The size of control and shift keys has been increased on the left side. This makes it easier to tap and allows you to play fast-paced games. The keyboard is indeed an improvement over the previous generation.
The display of ASUS G74SX-A2 is nice and bright and offers a 17.3-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. We saw the trailer of Captain America and Cowboys & Aliens and it looked great. We also watched a Blu-ray version of The Avatar and boy it was amazing. It was clean, crisp, and splendid. We enjoyed every minute of it. The most important thing in any laptop’s display is the viewing angle and we are quite impressed with its viewing angles, it was decent.
The battery is good but could have been better. We tested the eight-cell battery with a continuous run of ASUS G74SX-A2 with the surfing of the web, WiFi and it almost lasted for 3 hours and 6 minutes. It was just below the average and this might be the negative point of ASUS G74SX-A2.
