BlackBerry Colt Specifications and Review

The new BlackBerry Colt is all set to launch next year in the first quarter of 2012. The new launch from BlackBerry comes at a time when the market is brimming with Android and iOS powered smartphones. The thing that you need to consider here is that the new BlackBerry Colt isn’t running on the older BlackBerry OS but has an all new avatar and in fact a totally new OS- the QNX OS.

Although the new smartphone from BlackBerry looks impressive but to be very specific, BlackBerry hasn’t done a good job on BlackBerry Colt. The phone has 1 GHz single core processor and the single core is well outdated when we talk about smartphones. There are lots of phones with dual core processors and they are definitely selling like hot cakes in the market. The phone has 768 MB RAM and I guess that you aren’t too happy with this figure as 1 GB RAM is so common these days.

BlackBerry Colt

The phone is due for sales a long time later but we can’t say if this new BlackBerry Colt will do good in the market and if it sells, it would be simply because off the company’s reputation and for the curiosity of experiencing the new QNX platform. Those who would want to try out the BlackBerry messaging service with this new BlackBerry Colt will have to face disappointment as the new QNX platform unfortunately doesn’t support the messaging feature which is well a trademark and the USP of all BlackBerry phones in the market.

Something that caught my eye was the use of Bluetooth version 3.0, which is new and good. Connectivity options, as you can see aren’t abundant in a way but still decent. You will be able to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and also make use of 3G services with the new BlackBerry Colt. The phone has a 2 MP rear camera and a front camera too.

Altogether, the new BlackBerry Colt has just average features. The phone is new in the market and the pricing for this phone is not yet known to us. It would be good for BlackBerry if they price the new BlackBerry Colt thoughtfully and don’t price it too high.
