The moment I took BlackBerry Torch 9850 in my hand I felt possessed, possessed by the shear brilliance of this latest BlackBerry handset. I observed it and I was finding the BlackBerry’s trademark keyboard and viola I couldn’t find it and then I thought this is probably the toughest step taken by BlackBerry-yes Keyboard-free phone. BlackBerry Torch 9850 doesn’t feature the trademark keyboard.
BlackBerry Torch 9850 looks good on the front and the capacitive buttons hide beneath the glass. At the back, it has a thin metal battery cover which springs off nicely when a tiny button is pressed. Under it, you can find the 1230 mAh battery and slot for a microSD card. It comes with a 4GB by default, paired with 4 GB on the inside. It also offers 2100 MHz UTMS support and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz. BlackBerry Torch 9850 is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor, a 768 MB of RAM and “Liquid Graphics” engine found in the other two RIM phone which are launching today.
The display is great and has 3.7-inch WVGA display which looks bright, contrasty, and impressive. Just like we saw in 9930 it has the same viewing angles. On the top of the right edge of the phone you will find the 3.5 mm headphone jack and a volume rocker lower on the chassis. You will find the lock button on the top of the phone- taking it to the entire side of BlackBerry Torch 9850. If you squeeze anywhere here, the phone will lock and unlock itself. BlackBerry Torch 9850 features a five megapixel camera on the back with a proper autofocus lens. The camera has impressed us and is far better than the EDoF lens on the 9930.
