Gaming Industry Dominated by Mobile Gaming Apps [infographics]

Gaming is steadily increasing with the passage of time. More and more people are getting hooked to the mobile gaming apps each day. Geekaphone has now come up with a complete infographic describing the main areas of growth.

It has been estimated that the mobile entertainment industry was worth $33 billion in 2010 and has been growing steadily since then and is expected to rise to $54 billion by 2015. This is not just limited to adult content but also related to social networking and mobile gaming, which have together raised a sum of $8 billion in the current year and are expected to raise $11.4 billion by the year 2014.

Most of the games are made available to users on mobile platforms at very reasonable rates and are sometimes even free. The game developers are able to provide these games at such low rates due to a new monetization model that depends on the accessories and content that is downloaded in due course of time, rather than the initial payment. These downloads include the tools that are not imperative by enhance the gaming experience of the user. Thus, if the users like the game they would eventually invest in the tools pertinent to the game.

Also, these games have quite a few advertisements attached to the game which are available whenever the user opens the game app. This model has been a success too, given that developers made almost $87 million through advertisements and the number is expected to rise to a staggering $894 million in 2015.

The findings of the survey conducted by Geekaphone stated that 84% of tablet owners spent time playing games on their devices with 68% spending more than an hour a day using the tablet. This market that was close to non-existent a little while ago has now transformed into a profit reaping domain for mobile game developers.
