Samsung Galaxy Y is an Android smartphone specially aimed at the younger generation. The new Samsung Galaxy Y is another member added to the Samsung Galaxy family. The phone is not yet released in the market as it had been just now announced. The official release date is not known yet but the phone is set to be released in the market in the last quarter of 2011. The new smartphone is an entry level phone and is aimed at the cash strapped youngster who would like to have a good phone for themselves.

Samsung Galaxy Y has a 3 inches big TFT capacitive touchscreen with a 240×320 pixels resolution and displays images with 256 k colors. The new Samsung phones have all the new Samsung TouchWiz UI user interface technology. The phone is powered by a single core 883 MHz ARM processor and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Android Gingerbread is the most popularly used Android version today. Earlier Android 2.2 version Froyo was used for most phones but the new phones today have Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Samsung Galaxy Y also employs a 2 MP rear camera that takes images with 1600×1200 pixels resolution and does video recording as well. The phone lacks a secondary camera. Although the phone is 3G enabled but you will not be able to do video calling because Samsung Galaxy Y doesn’t have a front camera.

Internal memory stands at 160 MB and the phone’s memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using microSD card slots. Connectivity options for Samsung Galaxy Y are GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth version 3.0 and USB version 2.0. The phone has a 1200 mAh battery and will provide you a maximum talk time of 5 hours and a standby of 350 hours.

    the galaxy y handset is awesome and best but i didnt like one feature which is video calling.

    I m pretty disappointed with absence of video calling. they shud have incorporated that thing as well
