The iPhone 5 – What We Know So Far

There are many rumours about the iPhone 5. In fact, most sources agree that any news on the new features of the iPhone 5 are just speculations right now, since Apple has not released a lot of information about it. For instance, it’s rumoured that the new iPhone will be unveiled in September, but it could be delayed until October. Some facts have leaked out, however, and some of the new features have been confirmed.

Design

Apple has taken some of the new sleeker design of the iPhone 4 and improved on them. The iPhone 5 will be even slimmer, and have a metal back piece. This will make it stronger, so it won’t suffer from the same weakness that cracked the iPhone 4 when a case was slid on to it. Also, the glass will be shatter resistant. This is great news for most iPhone users, since cracking the touch screen is one of the most common problems with any iPhone.

Battery

The iPhone 5 will have an even longer battery life. On the 3g network, the battery life will have 14 hours of talk time, and while on the 4g network, it will have 7 hours. This will be especially useful to people that use the video chat feature, or some of the applications that are known to drain the battery quickly.

4g Network

The 4g network allows users to have a faster connection speed. Avid iPhone users like this for games as well as for video application. The new iPhone will take advantage of the 4g network that in the past was only available to users of other smart phones.

Dual Core Processor

One of the new features of the iPhone 5 will make it on par with the fastest smart phones on the market. The new dual core processor will enable much faster data speeds as well as include an enhanced graphic chip for a stunning retina display.

If past iPhone releases are any guide, the new iPhone 5 will sell like crazy. It stands to exceed expectations, and addresses many of the complaints that have plagued the iPhones in the past. The only thing left for iPhone users to consider is the contract and plan with the cell phone company to ensure the most usage for the least amount of money. One thing users should consider is a SIM only contract. This deal is available from most major networks and uses an unlocked iPhone. It is essentially a pay as you go plan, which allows users to avoid a long contract, but still keep their same phone number. A SIM only plan is great for people that like to get the newest handsets, and also like to use all the features including internet, phone and text. There are also several SIM only deals to choose from, so users can pick the one that incorporates how much or how little they use their iPhone.

Until the actual release of the new iPhone 5, Apple is keeping a lot of its features under wraps. However, iPhone fanatics are already prowling the internet and browsing the blogs in search of more details. As the fall release date gets closer, Apple will surely dangle more clues and release more titbits, fuelling the fire and getting the masses ready for this new release.
