August 2011 Best Cellphones Round-Up

Really!! What a month it has been, cellphones conquered this whole month. I think speculations, anticipation, launching, these were the best keywords this month. We witnessed many launches this month, the cellphones manufacturers were on their toes. Some were fighting for their survival and popularity (BlackBerry), some of them were coming up with new creative ideas and phones (Nokia), some of them were trying to show their latest dominance and fame around the globe (Samsung), and some of them were trying to sneak into this competitive market with their product.

This month was we have seen the Alphas and the Omegas and now we are coming up with a monthly round-up of all the latest and best cellphones which were launched last month. We will cover the biggies and also the minnows who are trying to make their mark in this highly competitive market. So, buy a ticket, hold onto your seats and get ready for this blockbuster.

BlackBerry

BlackBerry has recently attracted a lot of attention around the globe. The riots of United Kingdom forced Research In Motion to make a few changes in the system. There had been a few layoffs but then also RIM always finds a way to rejuvenate its dearest product. RIM launched a more advanced versions of Curve, Torch and Bold. We are going to enlist all of those for you. Here it goes.

Nokia

Nokia really surprised us this month. Android has been giving Symbian run for their money for past one year. Nokia is trying hard to not to get outlasted by fellow competitor Android. So, Nokia came up with different ranges of cellphones this month. Some of them are affordable and really amazing. These are those amazing phones.

Nokia 500	Powered by the Symbian Anna OS and a 1 GHz processor, this handset has the potential to be a great hit around the globe. Nokia 500 is a touchscreen mobile which will cost you just 6800 bucks in India. Nokia 500 is a highly anticipated mobile and is really affordable.
Nokia 700 Zeta	Nokia 700 Zeta was announced by Nokia this month which works on the latest operating system to be launched by Nokia-Symbian Belle. This cool cellphone is priced at Rs 17,250 and is due to be launched by the end of third quarter of this year.
Nokia 600	Another Symbian Belle powered phone was announced by Nokia. Nokia 600 features 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen and will be a GSM phone. Nokia 600 is loaded with a 1 GHz processor and has a 5 megapixel camera.
Nokia 701	Nokia 701 is a successor to the Nokia 700. Both of these phones are Symbian Belle powered and is possessed with good features. Nokia 701 includes a 3.5 inches big IPS-LCD touchscreen. IPS is available in a very few phones and Nokia 701 is one of them.
Nokia 100	Nokia 100 is a budget phone and is pretty simple phone. This is actually for the people who love to have a simple, glitz and glamour, straightforward phone in their pocket. Nokia 100 has a 1.8 inches TFT screen and displays all with 128 x 160 pixels. It has 7 hours of talk time at best and provides 80 hours by standby time.
Nokia C2-02	Nokia C2-02 is the latest touch and type, Symbian 40 OS based phone launched by Nokia against the Androids in the market. Nokia C2-02 also features a 2.6-inch 65k color resistive TFT QVGA touchscreen, Flash light, Nokia Ovi. Nokia C2-02 offers 2 megapixels, full screen viewfinder with touch controls.

Samsung

Samsung is giving a run for money to every other manufacturer in the market. This Korean supergiant is a multinational conglomerate corporation and is the world’s largest technology company by sales. Well, this year was a controversial year for Samsung. In April 2011, Apple sued Samsung over the design of their blockbuster Galaxy range of mobile phones. Apple’s lawsuit was filed on 15 April 2011 and alleges that Samsung has violated Apple’s trademarks and patents and they have copied the iPhone and iPad. But in the end, The Regional Court Of Dusseldorf, Apple were granted a preliminary injunction against the sale and marketing of the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 across the whole of Europe. Well, for now the ban has been lifted and Samsung has continued to go gaga all over the globe and rest is history.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover	Galaxy Xcover was introduced by Samsung to compete Motorola Defy which is the best choice currently if you are looking for a rugged Android smartphone. This new handset has a 3.6 inch display and works on the Gingerbread OS. It also includes 3G connectivity and a TouchWiz UI.
Samsung Wave 3	Samsung Wave 3 is a new Bada OSv2.0 based phone from Samsung. Wave 3 is the first phone in Wave series to get Bada OS version 2.0. This superb handset has 4 inches super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and displays images with 4820 x 800 pixels resolution which is amazing. It is powered by a 1 GHz processor and also features Gorilla Glass.
Samsung S3770	Samsung S3770 represents the mid-range handsets category. The latest handset by Samsung features a brand new version of TouchWiz Lite. S3770 is light and compact phone and is packed with many features.
Samsung Metro Duos C3752	Samsung Metro Duos C3752 is a dual SIM slider phone introduced by Samsung recently. This phone is a kind of upgrade to the Samsung Metro Duos C3322 which also has the same features as this phone. Samsung Metro Duos C3752 is an affordable phone and is available for just Rs 4000 in India.
Samsung Chat 527	Samsung Chat 527 is the latest handset in Chat range. The previous ones Chat 322 and Chat 222 was also a QWERTY phone and almost have same features. Samsung Chat 527 is a renewed version of Chat series and is sleeker and good looking. The best thing in Chat 527 is that it is a 3G enabled phone.
Samsung Galaxy M Pro	Samsung Galaxy M Pro is the newest smartphone in Galaxy series launched by Samsung. The phone will be running on Android 2.3 and has a QWERTY keypad. Galaxy M features a 2.66 inch capacitive touchscreen with an optical Trackpad along with a nice 1 GHz processor as its powerhouse.
Samsung Galaxy Y Pro touch and type	Samsung Galaxy Y Pro touch and type is another addition to the Galaxy series smartphones which is also an upgrade version of newly launched Galaxy Y. Samsung Galaxy Y Pro touch and type has same features as Galaxy Y but the only difference here is that this phone is “touch and type”.
Samsung Galaxy Y	Samsung Galaxy Y is an Android smartphone which offers a 3 inches big TFT capacitive touchscreen with a 240 x 320 pixels resolution and is powered by a single core 883 ARM processor. The phone is loaded with a 2 megapixel rear camera with 1600 x 1200 pixels resolution and is also 3G enabled.
Samsung Galaxy Precedent	Samsung Galaxy Precedent is a new Android 2.2 powered touchscreen phone by Samsung. The following is only available in USA in present and through Walmart only. The phone is to be very specific a CDMA phone and Straight Talk will be its service provider for CDMA service.

LG

LG is distinctively famous for its Optimus range smartphones and LG has come up with more range of smartphones in the Optimus series. The new Optimus 3D is getting a lot of attention and is ready to compete with other smartphones. LG have been also trying to make their smartphones more users friendly and has also made an attempt to make the slimmest smartphone compared to others. LG smartphones uses their trademark NOVA display which claims to be the perfect display for any smartphone. LG has tasted the success of their LG Optimus Pad and they are now ready to enhance their success with their smartphones.

LG Optimus 3D	LG Optimus 3D has been launched in India but the only thing which bothered me was its price tag. It is priced at massive Rs 37,000 in India. So, think twice before you buy this phone. LG will be giving away 3D glasses free with the handset.
LG Gelato NFC	LG Gelato NFC is not been released yet but is basically a similar version of LG Optimus Net which is equipped with a NFC chip. The following smartphone features a 3.2 inch TFT display and runs on Android 2.3 OS.
LG Optimus Sol	LG Optimus Sol is a latest Android smartphone from LG which is 3G compatible and operates on Quad band network. It has a big 3.8 inches Ultra AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution. There is also an Optimus UI 2.0 as its new user interface.
LG Cookie Duet C310	LG Cookie Duet C310 is a dual SIM phone by LG and is very much similar to LG C305. Cookie Duet is a QWERTY phone and features a 2.4 inches TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. It also comes with many social networking and internet surfing features like Facebook, Twitter, PushMail, SNS and many more.

Motorola

The first ever manufacturer to introduce cellphone to the world is really trying hard to bounce back with something big. Surely Motorola has created some of best smartphones and the famous Droids. Motorola also has entered the tablet market with their Motorola Xoom tablet which is pretty much awesome. This month was I think a dull month for Motorola, not much releases or any major announcement but I’m sure Motorola has something much bigger up in its sleeves.

Motorola Defy+	Motorola Defy+ is the next version of Defy. The new Defy+ is a much improved version of Defy. Motorola Defy+ is powered by a 1GHz processor and runs on Android 2.3. It also features a 3.7 inch screen that has Gorilla glass with a 5 megapixel camera on the back.
Motorola Gleam EX212	Motorola Gleam EX212 is a dual SIM flip phone launched by Motorola which is quite affordable and reminds me of MOTO RAZER. It has a 2.4 inch TFT display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution. It has a 2 megapixel camera on the back and is capable of taking good quality images.
Motorola XT531	Motorola XT531 is the latest Android smartphones by Motorola which runs Android 2.3 OS and is powered by a single core 800 Mhz processor. It has 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution and is equipped with a nice 5 megapixel camera.
Motorola EX119 Brea	Motorola EX119 Brea is a touch and type mobile and is one of the slimmest mobile by Motorola. The handset supports wireless LAN connectivity and has an impressive QWERTY keypad. It is a dual SIM GSM mobile and is available at an affordable price.
