Import Contacts to Outlook 2010

You may sometimes need to import contacts from Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo to Outlook 2010 so that you find all your contacts in a single place. Thus providing you ease when it comes to finding some contacts, you can get them all by just referring to one place. Outlook Import Wizard uses the CSV i.e. comma separated values format to import contacts from provides of email services such as Gmail, Yahoo etc. If you wish to edit these contacts you can go ahead once you have imported them to Outlook 2010.

Steps for Importing Contacts to Outlook 2010:

1. The step step involves loging into your email and click on “Contacts” to open them.
2. If you have an account on Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo mail then you can see an interface from where you can downlaod all your contacts that are saved in CSV format.
3. After the second step which involves downloading the contacts, open Outlook 2010.
4. Click on File tab, then select open from the list and you will find the “Import” option.
5. From this “Import” option, select “Import from another program or file” option that is available.
6. Select the “Comma separated values (Windows)” (CSV)  option and after doing so click “Next”.
7. The next step is to choose the file that you had downloaded from your email when you export contacts from the service provider.
8. Finally select the destination folder in the mailbox you have.
9. If you wish to change the destination folder you can do so and you also have the option to map custom fields.
10. The import process will start once you click on Next and if this takes a few minutes do not worry because it depends on how bulky the contact list is in your address book.
11. You will be able to see all your contacts available in a single place i.e. in Outlook 2010 once the import process gets completed.
