Present and Future of HP Smart Phone Devices

Hewlett-Packard has turned off its support and sales process of its WebOS smartphone devices and this has triggered the consumer’s panic button who had already bought it recently. So, what have you planned to do with your tablet? It has lasted only for 49 days in the market and the news had turned out to be an absolute shocker for the Palm lovers. HP had announced that the sale of devices running on WebOS will come to a halt until further notice. This devices list includes some of the popular and recently launched Palm Pre 2, HP Veer etc.

Early Gimicks:

The Palm Pre was one of the first devices to be launched with the presence of WebOS software. It got several accolades from CNET Reviews senior editor Cha for its multi-tasking ability and picture perfect clarity. The sharp multi-touch display and its excellent web applications that were seamlessly integrated with multimedia features had attracted a lot of attention.

However, the following versions of launch did not live up to the market expectations and were considered to be an utter flop in the smart phone market. Devices such as Palm PrePlus, Palm Pre 2, HP Veer, Palm Pixi, Palm Pixi Plus, HP TouchPad did not create a huge fan following as expected and thus lead to dwindling number of sales. HP was unable to foray into the market segment of smart phones.

HP Stands By Its Customers:

Consumers of HP smart phones are worried to a greater extent on the kind of support available for their older versions. However, HP has guaranteed to stand by its customers. There is a separate page found in the company website describing about its plan to support the customers. The firm has listed out the differences in offering various kinds of support systems in the following manner.

The recently launched products that are based on WebOS and Palm Centro will be fully supported through the HP sales channels and consumers can walk in to the service centers without any hesitation.

It has a “Mature” list of products which are no longer available in the market. Most of the Palm products come under this list and it offers a different kind of product support plan for these ranges of products. The company says that it can offer only limited service which will be further evaluated by the support lifecycle phase and its core team. The consumers who belong to this category are actually worried.

Future of HP Smart Phone Devices:

The reason was crystal clear for withdrawing the support and sales of its smart phone devices based on Palm WebOS. It is high time to rethink and rework on the strategies of its technology as HP has completely lost its ground in this market. It has to solely concentrate on its R&D features to come up with a better product that can offer stiff competition to APPLE and SAMSUNG smart phone devices.
