Many tablets have been launched in past two years and so the fierce competition was also launched by the manufacturers to attract the consumers to buy their tablets. Tablets are the new laptops. All the premium brands were a bit late to present the Indian technology market with there tablets, but as soon they did they faced stiff competition. Surprisingly some of the tablets that were made in India from scratch, are equally well performing and above all great value for money. In some cases they are as cheap as half the price of there international counterparts.
Following is a list of some tablets under Rs 20,000 in India that the consumers have there eye on. Almost all the tablets enlisted can be bought individually or via a service provider. I hope i haven’t missed any.
A private company Binatone, owned by brothers Partap and Gulu Lalvani and started in United Kingdom in 1958 has now launched their own tablet. The latest tablet runs Android 1.6 and features an 8 inch resistive screen. Binatone Homesurf has a 667 MHz ARM 11 processor as its powerhouse and also supports Wi-Fi. You will get a 2 GB internal storage with a 128 MB RAM.
Many tablets have been launched in a span of time and MSI recently rolled out two sub 15 grand tablets in India. These are Enjoy 7 & Enjoy 10. Both tablets will run on Android and is also said to be world’s lightest tablet. Both tablets have a connectivity of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and you can also take the pleasure of front camera for video calling followed by a 2 megapixels rear facing camera. Both have 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A8 as a processor.
One of the largest companies in India Reliance Communications recently launched a tablet along with 3G support. The tablet which has a 7 inch display is made by ZTE and is loaded with a capacitive touchscreen. Reliance Tab will run on Gingerbread operating system and will offer 512 MB RAM and an expandable memory of up to 32 GB.
The following tablet launched by Beetel is one of the most affordable tablets available in India. Beetel, is one of the renowned Indian companies have now ventured into the production of smartphones and tablets for the first time. Beetel MagiQ BMQ 01 has a nice 7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which runs on Android 2.2 OS. It is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It supports EDGE and Wi-Fi. Beetel MagiQ BMQ 01 has a rear 2 megapixel camera and a front 2 megapixel camera for video calling.
Spice MI-720 DroidPad is the latest tablet launched by Spice Mobiles in India. Spice is a popular mobile brand in India and the graph of popularity is growing faster and faster. The following tablet will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has a great 7-inches wide high resolution capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels. Spice MI-720 DroidPad is loaded with a 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor.
Sakshat tablet is the cheapest tablet in India. Sakshat is a totally indigenously designed and manufactures tablet that runs on Android OS. In India this tablet will be sold for just Rs 2200. Sakshat features a 7 inch resistive touchscreen with 2 GB RAM, 32 GB hard disk space and 2 USB ports.
G’Five is a Chinese company which is all set to launch 7 inch and 10 inch tablets in the Indian market. The tablets will be priced under Rs 10,000 and will run on Android 2.2 Froyo. We have to wait until they are launched in the market but they will be a good option for purchasing a budget tablet.
8. BlackBerry Playbook Tablet (8 GB)
Research In Motion, recently launched its own tablet named BlackBerry Playbook. After ruling half of the mobile market with their BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry Playbook is indeed an example of superb designed tablet. BlackBerry Playbook has a 7 inch LCD WSVGA display capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch and gesture support. It is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor along with a 1 GB RAM. It features 3 megapixel front facing camera and 5 megapixel rear facing camera.
Olivepad is India’s first 3G Android tablet which is priced for Rs 21,500. Though, it is slightly above the Rs 20,000 mark, but we weren’t able to ignore it. This tablet runs an Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system and supports 3.5G HSUPA, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Olivepad has an in-built 5 megapixel camera along with a front camera as well. It has a Qualcomm MSM7227 as a processor and a internal memory of 512 MB RAM.
10. Creative ZiiO Android 2.1 Tablet
Creative also jumped into the tablet market with ZiiO which is Android 2.1 tablet. This tablet was launched when the Galaxy Tab was making a huge impact around the globe. Creative ZiiO is an Android 2.1 tablet and is powered by a customized ZiiLABS ZMS-08 HD Media-Rich Applications processor.
