Every major manufacturer has launched their tablets in India and in the midst of tablet war Samsung claims the top spot. Yes, Despite Apple’s Tab being the top selling tablet all over the globe, it was beaten on Indian soil. Samsung Tabs has successfully made its presence stronger and stronger in the Indian market and further consolidated its market share by not allowing others to make any dent in its leadership position.
A research report was made by CyberMedia in which it is reported that Samsung almost commands 45.8 per cent market share in the 158,000 strong Indian tablet market. Apple only enjoys 18.4 per cent market share whereas BlackBerry Playbook has 21 per cent market share in India.
There are 27 tablet models available in India from 10 manufacturers and the report estimates that there will be a mass arrival of cheaper tablets within the segment of Rs 7,000 to Rs 15,000 soon. Many Indian users prefer to buy 7-inch tablets and operating system preferred by them is Android Froyo 2.2.
So far, Samsung has been the only company which gave a tough competition to Apple’s iPad and that’s why the company has faced so many lawsuits from Apple as well. Apple has won the tablet war but Samsung won the battle in India and the only thing which comes in my mind is- It happens only in India!!
