Mac OS X is a Unix-based operating system, which supports a number of data structures that are used in Unix operating system and Kernel is one among them. Kernel is the core component of Mac OS X operating system that is stored at protected area of hard drive. Kernel offers a number of advanced system services, such as file management, process management, memory management, and Input/Output management. However, in some situations the Kernel may become unresponsive and your system does not boot up. This behavior leads to data loss and put you in need of Mac data recovery solutions.

It is essential for a Mac OS X system to have a valid and intact Kernel to work properly. When Kernel fails to load, your system shows weird symptoms. To illustrate this problem with Mac OS X 10.5 Snow Leopard operating system, you may encounter gray screen with Apple logo. The system freezes at boot up and boot process does not complete. You may also see a spinning wheel at the same time, which is also called beach ball of death.

Root of the problem

There are various reasons of this problem, which may include the following ones-
You encounter unexpected system shutdown that has made directory structure unstable. In such situations, Mac OS X operating system can not read the directory structure and thus data becomes inaccessible.
You startup Mac OS X volume is either unreadable or damaged.
Directory check can not be completed.
PRAM/NVRAM are affected by boot-args issues.
File system or Mac OS X Kernel are damaged.

Resolution
Try below Mac recovery solutions to work around this issue-
Boot your system using Mac OS X instillation disk and attest to repair the startup disk. Reinstall Mac OS X operating system and restore data from backup, if required.
Reset PRAM/NVRAM.
Wait until your system completes disk directory structure checking.
Format your hard drive and reinstall operating system. After formatting the disk, restore data from the most recent backup as formatting removes all the files and directories from hard drive.
When all else fails, use third-party Mac file recovery software to recover your valuable data from the hard drive.
The commercial applications let you perform data recovery Mac in most of the data loss situations. They are totally safe with read-only and non-destructive conduct.
Windows is so popular that it is used by all class of users, ranging from the experts to normal users. Everyday, users store many important business information as well as personal data in their Windows system. With usage and exposure to various applications, users also face different kinds of data loss/ inaccessibility almost every day. Though, many Windows users take various data safety measures, instances of accidental data loss is hard to prevent and in such situations any efficient data recovery software like Windows data recovery can be immensely helpful in recovering your windows data back.

You may encounter hundreds of possible instances of data loss, while working on your windows system. Below listed are some of the cases, which you may witness a bit more frequently:

Accidental/Intentional file deletion

Virus/Malware attack

File system corruption

Operating system malfunction

Inaccessibility of data following any system up-gradation

Deletion of necessary system files

Any other application contradiction leading to system crash etc.

In any data loss instance as above, your valuable data from the Windows system either gets lost or becomes inaccessible following the occurrence of any error. Even, sometimes, without finding any means to solve the problem, you have to format the hard drive and make a fresh installation of the operating system. Though, this may solve the problem, all your data in the media gets erased.

As we all know, after encountering any instance of data inaccessibility/loss, we are not that concerned about solving the problem, rather we are worried to get our valuable data back.

In this regard, the soothing fact is that whatever be the instance of data loss, data from the storage media never gets permanently lost, until it is being overwritten and the same can be easily recovered with the help of any advance data recovery application.

In the mean time, you must take sufficient measures, in order to avoid overwriting the seemingly lost data in your troubled media. Furthermore, you must avoid using the disk-fragmentation or Windows system restore utility. Moreover, you must ensure the read-only property of a recovery software before running the same on your media.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a completely risk-free data recovery software, which you can use to recover back all your lost, deleted, formatted or inaccessible data from your Windows system. The data recovery utility is compatible with almost all Windows operating systems and with an interactive GUI, can be operated even by any novice user.

Ever partitioned your hard drive, just to find a large number of your files unavailable? Or found inaccessible or deleted files while resizing an existing partition? Well, I have faced one such problem! A month back, when I tried to resize my partition, there was power failure! When the power came back and I rebooted the system, I found that a large number of my files in that partition were missing. And I didn’t know how to perform file recovery.

Here is what I did?

Clicked on ‘Start’.

Selected ‘Control Panel’.

Choose ‘System and Maintenance’.

Opened ‘Administrative Tools’.

Selected ‘Computer Management’.

Clicked ‘Disk Management’ under ‘Storage’

Right-clicked the volume that I wanted to shrink, and selected “Shrink Volume”.

In the dialog box that opened up, I specified in MB, the amount of space I wanted to extract from that volume.

And moments after I hit ‘Enter’, there was power failure.

When the power came back, and I booted my system, the volume had become inaccessible. I had not even taken a backup, and didn’t know how to perform File Recovery. I frantically searched the internet to find out what could be done in such a situation. And then I came across a lot of information on the internet, a lot of which was of no use, and also information about various file recovery software. But nothing that suited my needs. Frustrated, I discussed with a friend of mine, who suggested to me, to use these software for file recovery. Seeing me confused, he sat with me, and we attached my hard drive to his computer. What followed was pure magic.

To begin with, we took a complete backup of every single file that was available, and also created a clone of the drive, lest something were to go wrong. We deleted the partition in question to begin with. Then we started the recovery software, and choose partition recovery followed by selecting the hard drive. We got a couple of partitions, and we immediately chose the partition that we had just deleted. Followed by this, we selected recover. This done, we selected file recovery, and selected this recovered partition as the location from where recovery had to be performed. And lo-and-behold, all my files started appearing in front of me. We extracted all these files on to a USB, and I had all my files with me.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery software saved my life, and ensured that everything was back to normal for me. Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000, and support for FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS, and NTFS5 file systems, this file recovery software can easily stand the test of time.

In the Windows systems, sometimes, an drive overlay program is called just before the system files are loaded in the memory for booting. It is a third-party program that is needed when the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) of your computer’s motherboard does not support the hard disks if they are larger than 528 MB. There are various hard disks manufacturers such as IBM, Maxtor, Seagate, Quantum, etc that produce these programs. Having said that, at times this program is incompatible with the operating system you are using. On such occasions, the system becomes inaccessible and the precious data becomes insecure because of this. I would recommend to use a third-party data recovery software to recover the data without much efforts.<br>

This discussed problem can be experienced when you start your Windows XP system after doing a fresh installation. In this case, you can see either of the following error messages during the startup and the system is unable to proceed further during startup: <br><br>

“No operating system”

“Setup has determined that Drive C: is corrupted and cannot be repaired. To quit setup press F3.”

“Windows could not start because of he following ARC firmware boot configuration problem. Did not properly generate ARC name for HAL and System path. Please check the windows documentation about ARC configuration options and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.”

“Stop: 0x0000007b (0xf898963c, 0xc0000034, 0×00000000, 0×00000000)”

Cause:

Such situations are exhibited if and when you have used a drive overlay software application to administer the hard disk. Also contributing to this problem is the fact that some drive overlay programs are incompatible with Windows XP.

Resolution:

To resolve this problem, you should contact the drive overlay program manufacturer to know about the possible way-outs to fix this situation.

Please note that there is the ‘fixmbr’ command that you can use in the Recovery Console to repair the MBR (Master Boot Record) of the system. However, you should avoid using this command in this case as it may result in data loss apart from mere inaccessibility of data.

If the computer data remains inaccessible even after trying out the methods suggested by the drive overlay program manufacturer, then I would recommend using a third-party data recovery software. These data recovery tools have immaculate documentation along with superb user interface to enable you perform data recovery with much ease.

The best data recovery software is Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery that works perfectly in Windows 7, Vista, Server 2003, XP, and 2000. This RAID data recovery utility recovers data from FAT, NTFS, and exFAT file systems. In addition, this file data recovery software is available in two modes, Home and Professional.

Backing up data is the most important and most efficient way of securing your vital data from horrors of deletion, virus attack, corruption or other kinds of loss. However, not everybody is in the habit of taking backup of their vital data. And that is why many people are impacted badly when their hard drive crashes. Irrespective of which hard drive you use, Fujitsu, Hitachi, HP, IBM, Maxtor, Seagate, Samsung, Toshiba, or Western Digital, they all are prone to failure. In the absence of backup, the only thing that can save you from losses is an efficient data recovery software.

Every computer has a life, and irrespective of the interface it has (IDE, EIDE, SATA, SCSI, eSATA, SAS, or Fiber Channel, or operating system (Windows, Mac OS X, UNIX, Linux), every computer fails eventually. And to save yourself from data loss, you should maintain a backup. Apart from that there are some more measures you can take, like defragment your hard drive regularly to repair errors that appear while using it regularly. Also, make sure that your recycle bin doesn’t automatically delete files until you delete them. Also it is advisable to keep checking your recycle bin, so as to ensure, it has ample space for storage of deleted files. Finally, install a good anti-virus software, and keep it upgraded, so as to ensure maximum protection from latest viruses, malware, etc.

These steps do help you minimize data loss, but are not a sure shot way to check loss of data. There is always a possibility that despite all steps taken, your system does crash, or you lose some or all of your data, but by following these simple steps, you safeguard yourself to the maximum extent.

However, in case you have encountered data loss and are looking for ways to recover your data, then you have little choice but to opt for a good data recovery tools. These are third party tools that employ complex algorithms to read through each sector of the hard drive and extract data methodically from each sector. Programmed to run on various operating systems, these data recovery software are generally read-only in nature, and thus do not overwrite data. Even so, it is advisable to save extracted data in another hard drive.

Stellar Information Systems Limited has a plethora of data recovery tools in its armory. These tools have read-only nature, easy-to-understand graphical user interface, and simple operation; and recover all kinds of files, including presentation files, databases, pictures, audios, videos, and other business critical data.

In the Windows systems, there is the CHKDSK utility that used to repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files and directory errors on a hard drive. Also, there is an option to schedule chkdsk as well so that you do not have to deliberately run this tool. However, at times this tool can run on its own as well, which signifies corruption in the hard disk. In such situations, you should try to resolve this error by using appropriate corrective measures. However, if you are not able to fix the problem then you should use a third-party data recovery software to perform data recovery from the hard disk.

Consider a scenario wherein you are using Windows XP. When you start down the system, the chkdsk.exe program starts automatically to scan the hard disks for errors. In addition, you are not even prompted to run this program.

Cause:
There could be following reasons that could be responsible for this problem:
You may have scheduled the chkdsk.exe program to run in the Schedule Tasks section.
The hard disk is damaged. That is why you are getting this symptom repeatedly.

Resolution:
To resolve this problem, you should perform the following methods:
Remove the Chkdsk.exe program from Scheduled Tasks: You should remove the chkdsk.exe program from Scheduled Tasks, if you have done so.
Confirm that your hard disk or your file system is not damaged: You should start the system from Recovery Console and run chkdsk to check if there are any errors on the hard disk. There could be the following problems:
If chkdsk is unable to detect the hard disk, then it is a hardware failure. You need to replace the hard disk as soon as possible.
If the chkdsk reports some errors, there are chances that the hard disk is damaged. You should run fixboot or fixmbr tools in the Recovery Console to repair hard disk.

However, if the problem is not fixed using the aforementioned methods then you should use a third-party data recovery software to recover the hard drive. Such data recovery tools are read-only in nature that do not overwrite the existing storage media while scanning.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a file data recovery software that recovers deleted, lost, or formatted files of 185 different file types. It recovers data from FAT, NTFS, or exFAT file systems in various storage media such as hard disks, external hard disks, pen drives, iPods, etc. In addition, this RAID data recovery tool recovers deleted emails frm MS Outlook and Outlook Express. Available in Home and Professional editions, this tool is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, Server 2003. XP, and 2000.

Hard drive is a well-known storage media, used for permanent data storage. It is a stable and reliable mass storage media. However, in some cases, it may produce errors like other data storage media and may make the stored files inaccessible. Disk errors may occur with any operating system, including the most recent version of Windows- Microsoft Windows 7. When you face disk errors with Windows operating system, the stored files in the hard drive can not be accessed and file loss occurs. To recover lost Windows files, file recovery software are required.

As a real-world example of this problem, you may encounter the below error message while trying to access a Windows 7 hard drive:

“Windows No Disk

Exception processing message C0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 475b6bf9c 75b6bf9c.”

The problem occurs every time you try to access Windows hard drive. It renders the disk inaccessible and you need to perform file recovery to extract lost files from unusable disk.

Microsoft Windows operating system offers you an option to solve disk related problems by checking the disk. For instance, you can check primary hard drive of your computer for resolving the performance problems, or you can analyze external disk if it is not functioning properly. Follow the below mentioned steps to check your Windows 7 hard drive for errors:

Click Start icon and then Computer to open Computer.

Right-click the Windows partition that you need to check and click Properties.

Click Tools tab and select Check now option under Error-checking.

Provide confirmation or enter password if you are prompted for confirmation or administrative password.

Select Automatically fix file system error option to repair the problems automatically.

Select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors option for in-depth scan.

Click Start button on the disk checking window.

While checking your hard drive for errors using the above method, you should not stop the disk check process. If you do so, Windows hard drive partition and stored data may get damaged. It may cause further file loss and raise need of file recovery software.

The file recovery programs thoroughly scan Windows hard drive and retrieve all lost, missing, inaccessible, and deleted files from it. They provide safe and simple recovery with non-destructive nature and self-descriptive user interface.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is an indigenous tool to successfully handle all file loss situations.

Are you currently using Windows Vista and have recently installed Windows XP as well? Then, you are not alone in this regard as a number of users do this after they use Vista as they feel more comfortable with XP. However, sometimes due to some internal issues the Vista system is unable to boot. In such cases, you should try to resolve the issue using some in-house methods. If you are not able to fix the problem, then you should use a third-party data recovery software to perform data recovery from the Windows Vista system.

Consider a scenario wherein you have Windows Vista in your computer system. Now, you install Windows XP so as to make it a dual-boot system. However, when you start the system you are not able to boot the Windows Vista and only Windows XP is starting.

“Disk read error has occurred.”

Cause:
The primary cause of this error is that the versions of Windows operating systems earlier than Vista are not compatible with the startup method of Windows Vista and later versions.
In Windows Vista, as mentioned earlier, the BCD store is used to boot the system. Because of which, the earlier operating systems are unable to start Windows Vista, as they use the boot.ini file to boot the system.

Resolution:

To resolve this problem, you should start the system in the Recovery Console using the Boot CD. After this, you should perform the following steps:
Use Bootsect.exe tool: Use this tool to restore Vista MBR code and the boot code to transfer the control to the Windows Boot Manager program. You should use the following command at the command prompt:

prompt: Drive:\boot\Bootsect.exe /NT60 All

Use Bcdedit.exe tool: Use this tool to create an entry in the BCD Boot.ini file for the earlier versions of Windows operating systems. You should use the following commands for doing this:
Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /create {ntldr} /d “Description for earlier Windows version”
Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /set {ntldr} device partition=x:
Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /set {ntldr} path \ntldr
Drive:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /displayorder {ntldr} /addlast
Restart the computer. It should boot properly now.

However, if you still are not able to boot the system and access the valuable data then you should use a third-party data recovery software to recover the inaccessible files. Such data recovery tools are very user-friendly in nature that enable easy and safe data recovery.
