Micromax is known for their budget-friendly phones and it has already made a significant mark in the Indian mobile market. Micromax brought every type of handset say it- QWERTY, dual-SIM, touchscreen, Android and till now it has been executed very well. Micromax entered the Indian market with their Android handset with great price tags and these handsets were successfully embraced by the Indian budget consumers. So, if you think that Micromax is only for the middle class consumers then this will change your mind- Micromax A85 Superfone. Yes, with a hefty price tag of Rs 15,290 and a new Android handset, Micromax has entered the high-end and expensive mobile market. We have already covered this handset previously but this time we are coming with a detailed review so let’s have a look what’s new about Micromax A85 Superfone.

Micromax A85 Superfone features a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen WVGA display which supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. The design of Micromax A85 Superfone is decent and I say decent because it is neither slim nor light. But the build quality and the well-made curves and edges successfully impress you. Micromax A85 Superfone ha a metal cover on the back and the back covers open with two release buttons which are placed on the sides. The power button rest on the upper right side of the phone and it gives you an edge to unlock the phone easily. Volume rocker is on the left hand side and rest navigational buttons rest in the front below the glossy screen.

The biggest flaw you will come across in Micromax A85 Superfone is that the phone comes with Android 2.2 not with Android 2.3 and performance wise Micromax A85 Superfone will put your mind on a hold. Whenever we played games on it, Micromax A85 Superfone always heated up and sometime it gets froze when the gaming becomes intense. While disconnecting the call, the screen sometimes gets stuck in the middle.

Micromax A85 Superfone features a 5 megapixel shooter but you will miss the flash feature. Now, if you are willing to pay 15,000 bucks on this handset at least you expect a flash. Another flaw is the battery of Micromax A85 Superfone which doesn’t even last a day. Things become worst when you start the GPS feature and the battery life becomes half.

In the end, we got to say that Micromax A85 Superfone looks good on paper but practically it isn’t and the hefty price tag is the last nail in the coffin.

Pros

Good built quality.

Good for occasional gaming.

Cons

Poor battery life.

Heats up and gets froze under intense usage.

Nokia Lumia 910 will also have a ClearBlack touchscreen display which will support 480 x 900 pixels resolution.

Nokia Lumia 910 will feature a 12-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus. The use of Carl Zeiss optics is still the mystery as there is no official information about it. Nokia Lumia 910 will also feature a front facing camera for video calls. This handset will have a 1830 mAh battery.

The Chinese manufacturer, Huawei is soon going to launch their latest smartphone Huawei Honor which will run the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. After Google Nexus, Huawei Honor will become the second smartphone which features Ice Cream Sandwich in India. Probably you can’t consider Huawei Honor as a high-end smartphone compared to its dual-sore competitors.

Huawei Honor features a 4-inch TFT display which offers FWVGA (854 x 480) resolution. The display is average though colors looks good but sometimes appears distorted in direct sunlight. Viewing angle will also disappoint you as you may have a difficulty in reading text or watching movies from the side.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the right side and a screen lock / power button on the left. Now the positioning of the power button seems quite uncomfortable while holding it in your left hand. The volume rocker is also on the left hand side the micro-USB charging port lies on the bottom side of phone. And four navigation buttons are on the bottom of display. Huawei Honor is powered by a single-sore 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255T S2 Snapdragon and Adreno 205 GPU. You can also find this chipset in Nokia Lumia 800. Huawei Honor also features 512 MB RAM.

The Huawei Honor has a nice 8 megapixels shooter with a LED flash and two megapixels front facing camera. The image quality of Honor in a low-light is great and is enhanced by HDR. Huawei Honor can also take 720p HD video but it is not that effective.

Finally, the wait is over. Nokia Lumia 710 is now available in India with Airtel and Vodafone carriers. After reviewing the amazing Nokia Lumia 800, we were eagerly waiting for the Lumia 710. Nokia Lumia 800 wooed us with its impressive 3.7-inch OLED display and its superb 8 megapixels camera with dual LED flash and has Carl Zeiss optics. The camera of Nokia Lumia 800 surely is an important key behind it’s success. Nokia Lumia 710 is also a Windows OS mobile and it won’t disappoint you.

When Nokia Lumia 800 came few months ago, we witnessed the future of mobile design. Nokia has undoubtedly created a masterpiece and by watching Nokia Lumia 800’s design you think that the future of mobile design is bright and Nokia might have much more fascinating designs up their sleeves. The Nokia Lumia 710 is available in black and white colors and you will be given the pleasure of changing it’s back covers with these colors: black, white, cyan, fuchsia, and yellow.

Nokia Lumia 710 offers an awesome 3.7-inch LCD screen with a WVGA 800 x 480-pixel resolution. Nokia Lumia 710 might not have the stunning AMOLED display as Lumia 800 of the same size but it still looks amazing and bright. To improve contrast and get a perfect readability in sunlight it indeed features Nokia’s ClearBlack display technology.

Focusing on the back region of Lumia 710, the back coating is soft and the plastic covers the entire 710 with colored edges. By this, Nokia Lumia 710 feels brilliant while holding. The volume rocker and a dedicated camera button are placed on the right side of Lumia 710. The power button in on the top and a micro-USB port and headphone ports are on the right side.

In terms of performance, Nokia Lumia 710 features a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset with a 512 MB RAM and performs well. Tough, it cannot match the performance of Lumia 800 but it’s acceptable. Nokia Lumia 710 features a 5 megapixel shooter in the back. The image quality is not as spectacular as Nokia Lumia 800 but it’s acceptable. Lumia 710’s 720p video capture is average and there are some things which are quite dull here but you can work out with this.

Nokia 701 also runs the same Belle operating system and has 1GHz processor as its powerhouse. The Near Field Communications Functionality is also present in the Nokia 701 and it’s fun to use.

So far, Nokia 701 have the brightest screen with 1000 nits beating Nokia E6 (900 nits) in its own backyard. Compared to others like LG Optimus Black, Nokia 701 has 50 percent brighter outside. Nokia 701 could be tough competitor for the latest Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray in terms of pricing.

Design

In terms of design, Nokia 701 too comes in metallic body which we have seen in Nokia 700. Nokia 701 also has the same angular edges we found in Nokia 700 and you will get a feeling in some time that Nokia 701 looks similar to Nokia C7. Nokia 701 features a bright 3.5-inch ClearBlack Display which also has the IPS panel LCD. You can found the same Gorilla Glass Technology here which was used in Nokia 700 which means Nokia 701 do offers a good viewing angles and strong scratch resistant glass. The display of Nokia 701 offers a 640 x 360 pixels resolution which is highly responsible for three best things you will find in it- high and good brightness, vibrant colors, and amazing text. Nokia 701 also works beautifully under the direct sunlight.

Moving further, you can find the volume button on the left side with a Voice Command activator button in the center. The dedicated camera button is place on the bottom left and just above it you will find a spring lock button. The 3.5mm audio port is between the power button and micro-USB slot. And just a FYI here, Nokia 701 does not support USB-on-the-Go function.

User Interface

We highly praised the new UI of Belle series Smartphone previously and we will continue the praise with Nokia 701. We have already covered the features which Belle delivers but we will like to remind the new notifications area and we were indeed impressed. The home screens are spectacular and it becomes more spectacular with the inclusion of widgets and improved navigation. The touch screen of Nokia 701 is responds well when you work and play games on it.

Multimedia

Nokia 701 features an 8 megapixel camera with fixed focus and capable of recording 720p HD videos at 30 fps. The camera of Nokia 701 does click brilliant images with the help of dual LED flash. The real shame here is the lack of auto-focus in the video shooting mode and it has a “VGA!!” camera in the front for video calling. You will not be able to watch HD quality videos on it as it has a Broadcom GPU chip with 128 MB RAM. Nokia 701 also offers FM Radio and FM Transmitter.

Being hailed as the most compact Smartphone till date by Nokia, Nokia 700 is finally here. Nokia 700 is the latest Symbian Belle running handset which is packed with a mighty 1GHz processor. Besides Nokia 600 and Nokia 701, Nokia 700 is another addition to this group which runs on Symbian Belle OS. Nokia 700 belongs to a mid-range smartphone and tends to attract mainly teenagers. Will this smartphone attract teenagers? Well, Nokia 700 is compact, has an attractive design, and a good screen which makes this smartphone more attractive. Another reason is the Near Field Communications feature which nowadays teenagers are finding it cool and classy. And for the Angry Birds lovers, Nokia 700 is a perfect contender for playing this awesome game.

Design

A first glance, Nokia 700 looks like a small handset. Nokia 700 has a metallic finish which gives you a superior feel. Normally, a problem occurs with some smartphones is that sometimes you can’t use the device with one hand and you can’t get the perfect grip. But here in Nokia 700’s case, you will not find this problem and that’s the beauty of Nokia 700. Nokia 700 will give you the “Perfect” grip which will also allow you to use this device with one hand. The amazing angular curves at the top and bottom also boost this perfect grip.

Nokia 700 features a nice 3.2-inch ClearBlack AMOLED touchscreen display which supports 360 x 640 pixel resolution. Gorilla Glass Technology is used to built a scratch-resistive capacitive display.

Below the display, you will find three navigational buttons with cool backlighting. The microUSB port lies on the top centre, charging point on the right and the 3.5mm audio port on the left. On the bottom, you will find its speaker which disguises you as a slider.

User Interface

With new OS comes a new UI. Nokia 700 features a fresh navigation and several improvements. You can observe the improvement in the home screen where six customizable home screens is included and you bet it’s smooth. Each home screen has its own wallpaper and the widget can be resized also. The clock on the top gives a sophisticated feeling. The status bar gives a new notification tray which offers four shortcuts. If at all any application is running in the background, it will display a circular icon on the top left corner.

Multimedia

Nokia 700 is perfect for enjoying multimedia. The music has always worked as a magic wand for Nokia for years and the magic continues in Nokia 700. The music experience in Nokia 700 is flawless but many of you might complain the smaller screen size. Nokia 700 also has a stereo FM with RDS which gives better reception. The video player in Nokia 700 supports DivX, Xvid, MP4 and even .mkv file formats. Though, Nokia 700’s hardware is not that powerful to support the full 1080p HD video playback. An applause to the ClearBlack AMOLED display as it gives you a best video watching experience and watching movies in pitch dark is recommended.

Nokia 700 has a 5 megapixel camera with fixed focus and works great to capture an image quicker. It has one flaw and that is the close-up shots. The close-up shots are blurry. But photos clicked at normal, the image offers you a nice quality and crispness and that is also due to the AMOLED display. The real shame for Nokia 700 is that it doesn’t feature secondary camera for video calling.

Pros

AMOLED display with ClearBlack Technology.

Awesome user-interface.

Simple navigation.

Comfortable while holding.

Cons

No secondary camera.

It has only few compatible applications.

Blurry images in close-up shots.

Spice mobile is known for producing affordable phones with most of the features provided in the affordable price range. The Spice MI-270 is another such product by the Spice Mobiles. It offers dual sim facility with Android OS, which is a USP of the Smartphone. Also, it is one of the most affordable smartphones available till date. The Spice MI-270 is a large capacitive touchscreen display mobile which is powered by a 600 MHz MediaTek processor. After the Spice MI-300 and Spice MI-310, it is the third touchscreen Android mobile from Spice Mobiles. A vital place where the Spice MI-270 lags are that it uses the old Android 2.2 Froyo OS and does not supports the newer version of Android.

The Spice MI-270 can be called a fully loaded Smartphone in an extremely affordable range, but with affordability comes some consequences. The Smartphone has a standard battery which can give a battery backup of 3 hour talk time and up to 320 hours.

Design

The Spice MI-270 has a bar shaped design with curved edges that make it easy for you to use the phone with a single hand. The design traits are much similar from the Spice MI-300. Though instead of the ‘home’, ‘menu’ and ‘back’ options the phone has keys for the same purpose. The Spice MI-270 has a 2.8 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which supports a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The mobile phone has real sleek dimensions of 104 x 55 x 12.6 mm, and with its sleek waistline and plastic body, it weighs about 98 g.
