Gone are the days that heralded in simple vehicle accessories, like roll-up windows and AM/FM stereos. Currently, cars use a multitude of different powered accessories, from power steering to power windows. Along with the basic power conveniences of the modern vehicle, consumers are finding that additional gadgets can make driving even more enjoyable, fun, and even safe.

Five particular gadgets are available in the marketplace that every motorist should have in the car.

#1: Bluetooth

Cell phones used to be a luxury, but they are now commonplace in almost every motorist’s hands. However, holding and talking on the cell phone during driving is extremely dangerous and is often illegal in certain regions. As a solution, every motorist should have integrated Bluetooth in their vehicle.

At the press of a button, motorists can have a phone call relayed through their car’s stereo speakers, as opposed to fumbling with a handheld set to the ear.

The driver can keep both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road as the car’s Bluetooth signal allows a phone conversation to continue with safety as a top priority.

#2: GPS Navigation

Whether it is integrated or simply attached to the exterior of the dashboard, a GPS navigation system is a must for every motorist. Global positioning systems allow drivers to know exactly where they are in real time; streets and landmarks are clearly labeled on the GPS screen. Drivers will never become lost in a bad neighborhood and they can save on gasoline by choosing the most direct route to the destination. Many systems are voice activated as well so that drivers do not need to press the touchscreen excessively, causing distraction from the road.

#3: Parking Sensors

Some of today’s vehicles are extremely large, such as vans and trucks. Parking sensors are a smart and safe way to keep nearby people out of harm’s way when backing up. While the vehicle is in reverse, sensors attached to the rear bumper area activate; any obstacles, such as a pedestrian, will cause the sensors to notify the driver of a potential accident. The driver responds by braking and waiting until the obstacle is clear of the sensors. Drivers with young children at home will find this gadget extremely helpful so that no youngsters accidentally get in the way of the moving family vehicle.

#4: Power Outlet

A gadget that seemed unnecessary in the past is extremely handy with current technologies: a power outlet. Most cell phones have chargers that attach to cigarette lighters, but many newer vehicles do not have smoking accessories anymore. An integrated power outlet would allow drivers the convenience of a fully powered phone in the event of an emergency. Alternatively, drivers can power other electrical items during long road trips, such as a small cooler for drinks.

#5: Remote Keyless Entry

Seen in the past as an aesthetic luxury, remote keyless entry is necessary for any motorist since it increases safety near the vehicle. Fumbling for a set of keys in the dark while standing next to a vehicle can be a target for thieves. A remote keyless entry allows drivers to open the vehicle quickly with a button touch so there is no vulnerable standing time trying to find a certain door key. Drivers will be safely in the vehicle before any thieves can become a threat.

These five gadgets truly help motorists stay safe and alert while driving on a daily basis. As these technologies become more common, their sticker price has been reduced significantly. What used to be luxuries is now necessary accessories for a safe and fun drive on a daily basis.

Clive Jones writes for breakdowncover.org and covers a number of motoring related topics.

This one is easy! Since I am that cool grandmother! Guess I probably should begin with all those interesting gizmos used for baking that mom has never heard of, let alone seen. If you are in cold climates, or on frigid days, those little hand warmers are pretty practical and unique. Then the most amazing are probably the low impact aerobic exercise wii videos. Of course don’t leave out the iPAd tablet. And last, but not least, those great cell phones with the enormous numbers. WOW! What a hippee-chick grandma…even if you just have a couple of these.

Baking Gizmos

Before the days of shortening sticks with the measurements on them, some of us had a plastic measuring device that when packed with shortening or peanut butter to a certain level, we could twist up; out would then come the one tablespoon to ½ cup of the ingredient. A really interesting gadget that might still appear in some restaurant kitchens is the metal ring to make a fried egg just the right shape to fit a biscuit or English muffin. It is also quite handy for containing hash browns so they don’t scatter all over the pan, and can even be used for making perfect little hamburger or sausage patties. And I suppose it could make shortcakes for yummy strawberry shortcakes, too. I also use my pastry blender for several other things besides cutting in shortening for pie crusts, i.e. cutting boiled eggs for egg salad, and dicing cooked potatoes for mashed potatoes since no potato masher lives in my kitchen. The cute little trefoil-shaped utensil is for poached eggs; sprayed with cooking spray, three poached eggs come out ready for homemade “Egg McMuffins.” Finally, before there was Pampered Chef, a scoop for melon balls, meatballs, or fancy butter was part of every kitchen gadget bridal shower. Mine is actually double-sided, one scoop larger than the other. I’m sure my granddaughters could find more among my hickeydoodle treasures, but I really must leave a few lines for the other cool stuff.

Hand Warmers

They are not just for winter any more. If the grandkids are along for grocery shopping, many times after a particularly lengthy stay in the frozen food section debating flavors of popsicles, they will ask for those things that keep our hands warm when it’s freezing outside. And when a snowball fight is in the offing, there’s nothing like these warm mitts to give the champion the edge.

Low-impact Exercise Wii Videos

These are fun for everyone! Plan on sore sides after a night of this exercise and not from the calisthenics…from the laughter! The best part is getting the old ticker going and having such a hilarious time too. It’s a bit like playing Twister with all generations to music…visualize that if you dare!

iPad Tablet

Can you imagine a grandmother that not only has one of these, but knows how and enjoys using it?! These literally connect the operator to the world of digital wonders. But if you have to choose, make sure she has the most up-to-date phone that can handle all the same features.

Cell Phone

Is there a cell phone with those enormous numbers that granny can text, receive pictures, receive and respond to emails, and has internet service? Please tell me one exists. I have decided for my 70th birthday I will be upgrading my wonderful flip phone, but only if I can get one of those extra fancy kind. Some of the most fun I have is texting with my granddaughter right before she goes to bed. I guess that makes her Mimi pretty cool.
Reflecting back on this list of gadgets for those of us super cool modern grandmothers, the most important part of being a hip grandma is having the time of your life with the most special people in the world. Memories of all the best times will keep grandchildren coming back for more. And those are what make a grandmother of today exceptionally cool!

Jennifer Caldwell is a stay at home mom with 3 daughters and a love for writing. As a writing fanatic, she often uses grammar checkers to ensure her writing is clear, concise, and free of any embarrassing mistakes. She is also a cosmetics fanatic and never travels anywhere without her makeup brushes.

Apple has finally launched the iPad 3, ending months of endless speculation about what hardware treats its new tablet might bring to the market.

However, there are already tens of millions of people out there with an original iPad or iPad 2, which they can use to check the current ISA allowance or simply play Angry Birds.

The question now is whether or not Apple has made the iPad 3 different enough from its predecessors to be either a compelling new purchase or an incrementally updated irrelevance.

The most obvious benefit found with the iPad 3 is its 9.7-inch display. While it shares the same physical size of its forebears, it has twice as many pixels thanks to its 2048×1536 resolution.

Apple fans will recognise that this is similar to the upgrade seen when the iPhone 4 introduced the Retina Display to the mobile market in 2010.

The naked eye is not able to distinguish the difference between individual pixels when they are packed in so tightly, which means that the iPad 3 is the pre-eminent tablet when it comes to overall viewing experience.

To bring all of this extra detail to life, Apple has endowed the iPad 3 with a new A5X processor. It is still a dual-core affair and the manufacturer remains tight lipped about things such as clock speed, but its performance should easily exceed that of the iPad 2.

This is due in part to a new graphics chip, which Apple is claiming can trump the Nvidia Tegra 3-carrying tablet rivals by a wide margin.

However, all of this is just conjecture unless the software developers are able to fully harness the power of the iPad 3.

You could argue that this will be relatively difficult in the short term, but hopefully over the lifespan of this tablet its true potential will be realised.

The iPad 2 had some quite basic cameras built in and the original iPad had no photo-taking capabilities, which means that the iPad 3 represents the first time that Apple has taken such functions seriously on its tablets.

With a five-megapixel iSight camera on the rear, the iPad 3 should be able to deliver far better quality still photographs than ever before.

In addition, it can record full HD 1080p video footage using this same camera, with a VGA secondary camera located on the front to ensure that FaceTime video calls can still be made.

The iPad 3 is a fraction thicker than the iPad 2 and the Wi-Fi only version weighs the same. The range-topping 4G LTE-ready edition is heavier than the 3G predecessor.

The fact that 4G connectivity is only available in some countries, including the US but sadly not the UK, means that the iPad 3 will be more spectacular in certain regions than in others.

The pricing structure for the new iPad remains largely the same, which means the base Wi-Fi only model with 16GB of storage is the cheapest, while if you opt for the full-blown 4G experience with 64GB of flash memory on board you will be paying about twice as much.

If you have just invested in an iPad 2, then you will probably not be rushing out to trade it in immediately.

However, those who are looking to buy their first iPad should certainly consider Apple’s third attempt as the best option, even if you are just going to use it check on the current ISA allowance.

Apple has undoubtedly created one of the most amazing and unforgettable gadget in the history of technology i.e the iPad. And with no obstacles in front Apple brought the successors which has always ended on a high note. There is no doubt in my mind saying this that when the first iPad launched, no one in this blistering world would have thought that this particular gadget would turnout historic or a legend because now when the world is waiting for the third edition of iPad, it must be hailed as a legend.

So, first things first we will start the tour of iPad 3 with its design. The iPad 3’s design will be thicker compared to the iPad 2. The iPad 3 will have a touchscreen HD display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. To reduce the weight of iPad 3, it has a lighter battery and it might cost 20-30 percent more than the current iPad’s battery and will have a longer battery life.

Apple iPad 2 carried a 900 MHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Apple A5 chipset and Power Vr SGX543MP2 GPU which made iPad 2 a powerful tablet and performed very well. Now, Apple is putting an A6 Quad core processor in iPad 3 which will make it more powerful than iPad 2 or any high-end desktop.

Kevin Krewell, Linley Group senior analyst says, “We expect the A6 will be Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 design, which would be competitive with next year’s best mobile processors. In 2012, Nvidia will offer a Quad-core processor operating at 1.7 GHz fabricating Apple’s A6 in 28nm will reduce both di cost and power, yielding a much better product.”

The new iPad 3 will come be available with the latest iOS 5 which will feature the multi-touch gesture technology. Many analysts predicted that Apple might introduce OS X Lion for the tablet as it will have a Quad-core processor. Another center of attraction in the iPad 3 is the 3D feature and New Retina Display. The iPad lovers expected Retina Display feature on iPad 2 and meanwhile Apple has been working on an improved version of which will be introduced in iPad 3. The current iPhone 4 has the Retina Display with the screen resolution of 960 x 640.

Apple explains Retina Display as- “Developing pixels a mere 78 micrometers wide, Apple engineers were able to pack four times the number of pixels into the same 3.5-inch (diagonal) screen found on the earlier iPhone models. The resulting pixel density of iPhone 4- 326 pixels per inch – makes text and graphics look smooth and continuous at any size.”

With the addition of Retina Display, iPad 3 will support 2048 x 1536 pixels screen resolution. Another speculation building between the enthusiasts is the 3D view in the display of iPad 3 but I think it is too early to expect such feature form Apple.

Apple’s Trademark Feature Continues

Cloud Computing

The Cloud Computing services were announced by Apple during the WWDC 2011 and after introducing this feature in iPhone 5, they will surely include iCloud technology in iPad 3. Through this feature user would be able to access and store photos, apps, calendars, and songs on iTunes.

Camera

The iPad 2 had a nice camera with LED flash support and iPad 3 is likely to have much improved camera. It is expected to have a 5 megapixels camera with 1080p or 710p video recording quality of 60 frames per second. The technology made by OmniVision will help reduce the size of the tablet by 20 percent.

The iPad 3 is likely to be launched in the early March. The price of iPad 3 is still unknown.

When the world is going crazy with sleek, small colorful and trendy mobiles, ipad and tablets; Kodak is fully prepared to grab the market of new generation interest by its all new mini camera.

Kodak EasyShare M200 is designed keeping in mind the Facebook addiction among the youngsters who are always in a hurry to upload pictures.

Design:

As per the name, mini- it is the smallest and lightest digital cameras measuring only 2.0×3.4×0.7 inches and weighing as light as 3.5 ounces! It can be very easily slid in pockets without anyone doubting you are having a camera in your pocket. It is even smaller than your palm! For the stylish users Mini is available in three bright colors- red, blue and purple.

Specifications:

The front view of the camera is eye catchy with vibrant color.

10 megapixels

Flash, 3x zoom lens and a small mirror for self portraits. The 3x zoom provides a wide angle aperture of f/3.5 – f/5.9.

The LCD at the back is a 2.5” display with point-and -shoot-camera resolution provides sharp images.

The top and back of Mini includes buttons for adjust mode, switching from video to still photos and toggling the flash.

Functions:

The camera is provided with the most obvious functions such as multiple scene modes including auto, sport, portrait, snow, fireworks and backlight; five different color modes: vivid, full, basic color, black and white and sepia; and features like cropping, undo-delete and picture rotation. It provides a continuous VGA video featuring audio capture and also provides HD pictures in 16:9 formats.

Though Mini creates a little problem in low light inside room and the camera also lacks image stability may be due to its small size which can give blur images; but Kodak says these problems have solution. Using a flash mitigate the low light problem and carefully taking picture with still hands or using tripod can remove the blur problem. May be they need to know carrying a tripod for a Mini will surely be funny!

Keeping aside all this common functions, what makes Mini stand apart and above all its competitors is its online sharing option. This option allows you to mark photos and videos to upload directly to Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Orkut and many more. After marking as you connect your camera with PC, they are automatically sent to their respective destinations as per selection.

Tablet specially designed for women? Is it true? Yes, it’s true. Especially for female professionals Milagrow has announced a tablet. The device will run Android 2.3 OS and is packed with 1.2 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM. So far, we have seen every type of tablets but we never came across a tablet which is made especially for women. So, all men out there this can be the best “Valentine Day” gift for your lady.

First thing first, the design of Milagrow Woman TabTop is nice and it features a 7-inch screen which has 4:3 aspect ratio. Milagrow Woman TabTop is square in shape which makes it comfortable to carry in the bag for women. Milagrow Woman TabTop is available in pink, blue, grey and black colors and you will also get a leather case.

The camera is at the centre and bezel around the screen which makes it look awesome. A physical back button is on the right hand top corner of the tablet also with a volume rocker, options button and lock toggle. The two micro USB ports, micro SD card slot, 3.5 mmjack charger slot are on the right side of the tablet.

The user interface of Milagrow Woman TabTop is highly women oriented. The interface features woman’s room and in this room every single thing is actually a button for applications. Like, there is a lamp shade for the screen’s brightness. Shortcuts are also present for alarm clock, apps, notes, e-books, and music. Overall, we loved the UI and it becomes very interesting for women as it offers easy access to apps.

Milagrow Woman TabTop also has applications for health, recipes, free-dictionary, antivirus, and the most important of them all Skype. It also features pre-loaded women’s security and anti-theft application. We were highly disappointed by the fact that Milagrow Woman TabTop doesn’t have GPS.

As we told earlier, Milagrow Woman TabTop runs on Android 2.3 OS. It also has a Rockchip 2918 which gives you an edge for decent performance. Due to this, you will be able to play games without lag. Milagrow Woman TabTop has a 7-inch LED backlit resistive display with a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixel resolution. You will be able to watch HD movies smoothly. Milagrow Woman TabTop has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and option to connect to 3G.

Pros

Nice screen resolutions.

Good battery backup.

Awesome UI.

Attractive.

Cons

Resistive screen.

No GPS.

If you work on the Internet often, mobile computing is an idea you are familiar with and is probably an indispensable part of your job. There is a plethora of gadgets that you can conveniently bring with you that will enhance your work experience.

The following are a list of cool gadgets that will assist in supplementing your remote workspace:

1. Wi-Fi Finder Plus

Sometimes, when you are traveling, trying to find a Wi-Fi connection proves frustrating. The Wi-Fi Finder Plus is small in size and helps tremendously with your Internet connection woes. It saves valuable time in not having to turn on your PDA or laptop to check for Wi-Fi Internet connections in your area. This gadget comes with a built-in flashlight for traveling at night.

2. LapStrap

Let us face it, when you travel, you do not want to be loaded down with heavy gadgets. LapStrap is a straightforward shoulder-strap that attaches firmly to your laptop. The LapStrap proves convenient when traveling in airports, especially when you are carrying bags to get on the plane.

3. Solio Solar Charger

This ingenious gadget charges up your equipment and is environmentally friendly. It is a multiple-compatible mobile device charger that runs on stored solar energy. It works with the iPod, iPhone and other handheld devices. When the Solio Solar Charger is fully charged, it can charge up two standard cell phones and proves faster than standard cell phone chargers.

4. USP Port Blocker

Mobile users should be concerned about information theft and viruses. The USB Port Blocker prevents data thieves from plugging into your USB to collect your information or inputting viruses on your device when you are not looking (Yes, this does and can occur). If you have to leave your device unattended, this device is a must-have because it physically blocks points of entry into your laptop.

5. IronKey

IronKey is a secure USB flash-drive that keeps your data safe if it is stolen. It contains an onboard Cryptochip that encrypts your data with the IronKey. It provides various features such as; the ability to operate on the Internet securely. The gadget provides Secure Session Service with Firefox pre-installed, so it can be ran off the IronKey. It is also waterproof and proves stable with every-day wear and tear.

6. LinkStation Mini

The LinkStation Mini is the smallest network-attached server worldwide. You can store music, photos, documents, videos and virtually any file in a central location. It proves easy to connect when using the Web Access feature that does not require the use of a desktop. LinkStation Mini only requires a Web Browser to function.

7. Samsung Ultra Slim Mouse

Do you sometimes find yourself annoyed at the integrated touch pad located on your laptop? If so, you are not alone. If you prefer to use a scroll wheel minus a bulky-mouse, you should check into the Samsung Ultra Slim Mouse. It is only 8 millimeters and is built for portability. You have the options of left-clicking, right-clicking, forward, back and scrolling which is controlled by one-simple button.

8. DiskGO USB Watch Drive

The DiskGO USB Watch Drive comes in two varieties: 256MB and 1GB. The gadget is water resistant and comes with password protection software. You have two styles to choose from being the steel dress style and classic style which can adapt to almost any situation.

9. RFID Security Mobile Disk

When you are traveling, carrying a portable mass storage device proves to be a serious security risk. If the disk becomes stolen or left somewhere, it can be opened and with the data not being encrypted, your information becomes compromised. The RFID Security Mobile Disk locks up your hard drive where only you can unlock it with using a RFID key.

10. Canon Compact iP100 Mobile Printer

Typically, work relies on printing documents. You might want to print out a photo or document, but no matter the situation, the iP100 Mobile Printer proves portable and can print in hi-resolution, which makes it the first portable printer to give 9600 x 2400 dpi resolutions. It prints fast and with full-color photos within seconds.

No matter how hard one might try but it’s usually difficult for the technological realm to stay away from indulging in tittle-tattles about the latest or newly churned products. Something similar seems to have happened with Toshiba as well. After divulging certain details on the long-rumored successor of AT100 tablet, the company has now finally revealed their latest Toshiba Excite X10 tablets; complete with significant specifications and price point.

Designed aesthetically, Excite X10 is a 10.1-inch slim tablet with a 1280 x 800 resolution display which enables users to manage their personal and professional facets with unprecedented ease. Also entitled as Toshiba AT200, the portable computing solution features a powerful dual core OMAP 4430 processor and 1GB of RAM for enhanced performance and speedy experience. By playing on the device’s potent capabilities, users will be allowed to stay connected with closed ones, surf the web, watch high definition content, and listen to crystal clear songs with a cinch.

The sleek tablet also features front and rear cameras for capturing good moments whereas the micro HDMI and micro USB connectivity perk up the interaction. Users can even benefit from the integrated microSD slot which, a bit to dismay does not come with the Apple iPad. The most highlighted feature of Excite X10, however, is the 7.62mm slender body which makes it simpler for an individual to piggyback the device anywhere, anytime.

Although there are several aspects that can be considered for drawing a comparison, the lean framework of Excite X10 indeed surpasses the iPad 2 which comes around 0.346 inches (8.8mm) thick. While there are other manufacturers as well that zoom on trimming down the device’s chassis and dimensions, Toshiba has impressed quite a lot by infusing dual cameras in a commendably thin design. What may surprise many is that the device features a number of physical connectivity options too.

Touted to be the thinnest tablet on the market, the new Toshiba Excite X10 furthermore gains attention for supposedly being a tough rival to Apple’s feature-loaded iPad 2. Nevertheless, consumers may have to hang onto their hats to decide which one of these two performs better.

Reportedly, the initial units of Toshiba’s latest tablet will be running on Android Honeycomb. Though, a significant update to Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is anticipated to bless the device somewhere later in this year.
