Since the introduction of smartphones into our lives, we have experienced drastic changes regarding the magnitude of our cellphone usage. Almost all the work can be done on these smartphones. The habitual news readers also found a new paradise in these smartphones as their news reading experiences are taken to a next level.

There are numerous news reading applications now available for the phones, so that you are aware of the day to day, random happenings around the world as well as your local surroundings. Now you don’t have to go looking around for a newspaper stand or an internet cafe to surf for various topics. The service is available right in your hands, in your handset. These applications bring the latest news from the trusted sources in your reach.

The list here is compiled, keeping in mind some of the most popular and quality news aggregators for your mobile phones. These Free news reading applications are loaded with different features which may suit your needs and reading style. The best part is that all these applications are available for free and can be used at any time and anyplace. Now you don’t have to worry about paying any more for your daily dose of news, gossips or entertainment.

News360

News360 is not just another news reading application. It is an innovative news aggregator which is supported on Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It is a news reader with a true international approach. As the name suggests, News360 presents the news to you in a whole new dimension. The huge demand of platform based applications has resulted in News360 ousting similar applications in a stiff competition. News360 brings news to you from 10,000 news sources and more so that your news reading experience is not compromised. It is built up with semantic analysis technology that allows you to get the background details and dossiers about the companies and people who create the news.

You can select from a broad variety of topics the moment you start the application. Today people’s concern is demanding speed and consistency, both of which are satisfied by News360. It also provides a wider scope of collecting information by presenting alternative sources of a story. It is just like watching same news on different channels. News360 adheres to the fact that the authenticity of the news cannot be compromised. So it does not pick news feeds on blogs or unreliable sources. Another use of this application is that it reaches the third world masses by translating the news in English, the global language.

The most delightful side of News360 is that it has a vast arsenal of features. It yields almost all the features you desire. For example, News360 has one of the most polished interfaces with OOMPH! Factor. It pays attention to the smooth transitioning of RSS feeds to the news articles with such precision that you won’t even notice that you are jumping to another site. The USP of this application is the 360 degree view which arranges news stories based on the images of their headlines. The images are high quality and allow you to lay your eyes on the topics that you may normally ignore. You can also enjoy live English-speaking news streams from every corner of the world. When you want to dwell into local world, just trigger your phone’s GPS, specify your location and press the Local Tab to get all the required information of your surroundings. You can even create an account on News360 which picks up information from your Facebook or Twitter accounts and then personalize your news accordingly. This feature is called “My Stories” where you can customize news topics according to your interests. All you have to do is feed the topics that are of your interest and add them to the list of the main news. Rest of the work is performed by News360 by bringing the news on those topics in your hands.

There is also the provision of saving stories for reading them later in offline mode. The icing on the cake here is the personal widget of News360 for Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The widget is fairly large and displays the contents portrait style. You cannot ask for more. With such caliber and magnitude of admiration, you cannot miss out in this application. A must have for all ardent news readers.

Loku includes few but immensely powerful features in its repository. It can hold all the information together and display it in a gorgeous, web-zine graphical format. Loku is like a creamy layer on top of the local internet. The results shown in Loku are also a visual delight to the person using it. The “Know Local” is a basic feature which creates portals containing topics like culture, sports, culinary etc. The solid “Go Local” function is the real gem of Loku which contains various mood sliders like “Swanky,” “Flirty” “Foodie” etc based on its sentiment analysis algorithm. “Go Local” matches your feelings and provides different views and suggestions on the topic of your choice.

If you are a regular person to the technology news websites or read the newspaper thoroughly then you might be well aware that Google had earlier said that they were going to launch the Google Street View in India. The service was to start first from the city of Bengaluru. There is a bad news tough that the service has been suspended due to some troubles from the Indian government. Police commissioner form Bengaluru said that the service will have to be suspended considering the security issues that haunt this city.

The Google Street View is a service that will let you see the whole city as it actually is and the service is also very useful for GPS navigation as well. Google had employed some specially designed cars for the purpose for taking videos and pictures of all the parts of this city and this might be something that irked the Indian government. They don’t want all the parts of the city to be photographed and to be put on the internet to be viewed by all. However, Google hasn’t breached any privacy policies because it had sought permission before this venture in India.

This Google Street View feature exists for all cities across the world but in India it doesn’t exist and Bengaluru was to be the first city from India to have this feature.

Google is going to discontinue its “I Am Feeling Lucky” button soon. I have grown up seeing this “I Am Feeling Lucky” button. It is actually very sad though to say that I used Google search more than a million times in my lifetime but used the “I Am Feeling Lucky” button a very few number of times.

It is actually so less number of times that I can actually count it on my fingers. Well, the “I Am Feeling Lucky” button was introduced by Google to produce very good and superior results from the Google search engine but instead the “I Am Feeling Lucky” button took a beating because it wasn’t much popular with the internet community. Most have never ever given any importance to the “I Am Feeling Lucky” button. We prefer to do click the Google search button instead.

The “I Am Feeling Lucky” button is not removed simply because people don’t want it but because Google is working on some new ideas and is doing away with the older ones.

A strange thing happened past week and was bit bizarre for the search giants Google. Google confirmed past Sunday that about 150,000 Gmail users around the world who have their accounts, every e-mail, application, contact and calendar were deleted in nanoseconds.

The problem occurred when thousands of users logged into their accounts and found out that all the personal details and information were erased. The funny thing about it is that many accounts were reset and were given the Google’s welcome message and tutorials.

One frustrated users writes-“I have lost ALL on my e-mails/folders etc from Gmail. Why would this happen? How can I restore everything?”. Another user writes- “All my account settings, e-mail, labels, contacts etc has just disappeared.”

Meanwhile, Google is trying hard to restore every single accounts which is merely used by 200 million people. “We’ve already fixed the problem for some individuals. Our engineers are working as quickly as possible and we hope to have everything back to normal soon. We are sorry for the inconvenience to our customers,” Google spokesperson told Huffington Post on Monday.

Hey if you are one of them we would suggest-“Just be patient”.

In spite of the fact that Google wave collected a huge interest, it disappeared within a year of launch, even after making it opened to all. Due to this Google was provoked to shut the service down in August.

Moreover, Google relaxed users by making sure that it’ll create some tools to help them extract their content from wave.

But Google wave will be back in action, according to a blog post. Update says it will be:

Available at least through the end of the year.

Tools will be there before the end of the year, for the users to export their wave.

On the other hand, Google still declares that it is looking forward to:

Continue wave and extend wave technology in other Google products.

Open sourcing more of(Google’s)code.

Although we will not see Wave coming back again in its form, but i guess you wont mind experiencing new features of Wave.

No question that the web giant Google has always pushed all the envelopes and continues to do so. But the book pact by Google, for instance has finally created an opportunity for anti-googlers to throw roadblocks at Google and knock them at every step either in legal or litigation arenas. An antitrust inquisition was posted by The Justice Department against the book’s pact and its services when two people reported who were familiar with Google book search pact with authors and publishers. The justice department communicated with Google and some of its critics to query about the pact which is an ambitious plan to digitize every book, famous or not, in any language, published anywhere on earth, found in the world’s libraries, as part of the company’s core mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful .The Department of Justice also refused to give any exegesis on the matter. Representatives for the Association of American Publishers and the Authors Guild did not return requests for comment. However as part of the settlement, Google agreed to pay $125 million payment to resolve claims, cover legal fees and establish a registry to enable rights holders—be they publishers or authors—to register their works and subsequently receive payment when their titles are used online.Google also says that the settlement is nonexclusive and structured in a manner to encourage competition. But this ambitious plan is just to share revenue through the services has done little to pursue some authors and publishers, who worry that it sets a new paragon for digital copyrights and gives Google broad licenses over a significant database of titles. The settlement, unveiled in October, seeks to resolve a class-action lawsuit that stems from cases filed by the Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers in 2005 to stop Google from scanning books and making them searchable online. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleged that Google’s book search project violated copyrights. As part of the settlement, Google agreed to pay $125 million payment to resolve claims, cover legal fees and establish a registry to enable rights holders—be they publishers or authors—to register their works and subsequently receive payment when their titles are used online.Legal experts are in fear that the pact may lead Google too much power over distribution and pricing of works that are still covered by U.S. copyright law but whose rights’ owners are unknown, so-called orphan works. The web giant Google is standing tall against all its antagonist. That’s right, in spite of all it’s done to transform our world and define free, open digital space, nobody in the business seems to like the Google.

Well, that didn’t take long.
In a decade, Apple (AAPL) has gone from niche-market roadkill to a company whose growing dominance and competitive tactics in a booming market are thrilling investors, angering competitors, and drawing regulatory scrutiny. Unless Apple shows a quick change of attitude, the benefit of its market position–power, scrutiny, and tens of billions in profit–are only going to grow.Apple is no longer the beloved underdog that Microsoft kept alive in the late 1990s to improve its own standing in the eyes of regulators (remember the investment and agreement to keep building Office for the Mac?). Apple is now the wildly profitable owner of the dominant iPod platform and rapidly-becoming dominant iPhone platform, which are really one in the same. Unlike any other competitor in the industry, moreover–including the still PC-centric Microsoft–Apple has managed to link the two big personal computing platforms together, through its software and resurgent Mac business. As Apple extends its lead as the mobile computing platform of choice–calling the iPhone a “phone” misses the point–Apple’s dominance of this enormous opportunity will increase. This dominance should put Apple in a position to generate an extraordinary share of the value in the this industry over the next decade, just as Microsoft did with desktop computing. The FCC investigation of Apple’s rejection study of Google Voice, meanwhile, should serve notice that Apple’s days of doing this beyond the gaze of regulators are over.
To appreciate why Apple investors are so excited–and why competitors and regulators are concerned–you need to understand the real source of value here. At first glance, Apple’s market position seems much weaker than it actually is:

less than 10% share of PCs (lower worldwide)
~ 1% of global phones
~ 20%-30% share of US smart-phones (lower worldwide)
~ 70% share of US standalone music players (50% worldwide)
If the standalone music player market were still booming, Apple would be getting a lot more heat for its market position. As Apple itself has admitted, however, standalone music players are dying. Fortunately for Apple, iPods aren’t really “music players,” and the larger mobile platform market is very much alive. The iPhone and iPod touch are two gadgets based on a single mobile platform, one that now supports thousands of popular apps. To get a true picture of Apple’s dominance of this platform, therefore, you need to look at the iPhone and iPod share together. And then you need to consider the relative popularity of Apple’s mobile platform as a platform for apps versus the alternatives. In reality, “music” and “phone calls” are just apps–and as Apple has already illustrated, they are far from the only ones. The real value in plaftorms is created by network effects: The more end users and developers that adopt a platform, the more valuable it becomes. Apple is already well on its way to owning the standard platform in mobile computing, just as Microsoft did on the desktop. If you view iPhones and iPod touches as “mobile platforms that support a wide variety of third-party apps,” Apple probably has 30%-40% of the US market (less worldwide). If you consider platforms that already have huge, vibrant developer communities, thousands of apps, and all of the momentum, however, Apple’s share of this market (US) is probably more like 80%-90%.

But the new product is all different and innovative . it is meant for users who want to edit and polish the translated text, and share or publish it, said Prasad Ram, center head and engineering director at Google India R&D, on Tuesday. This new product is developed in Google’s Indian R&D Lab Development . it will be known to be the latest of a number of tools developed by Google in India to improve access to content in local languages, Ram said.products like this are designed keeping in mind the problems in india but are useful for people throughout the world.By an arrangement with Wikipedia, users can download a Wikipedia entry into the translator toolkit, translate it into a local language using machine translation, correct and polish the translation and post it to the online encyclopedia.

Professional translators can also upload personal files to the translator toolkit, and use the toolkit provided by Google, which includes a glossary, and dictionary, among other features, Galvez said. The local file and the translation can be kept private. he added.

The editing can be done using a document layout that general users are familiar with.

Goolge quoted ‘Unlike a normal search engine, Google Squared doesn’t find webpages about your topic – instead, it automatically fetches and organizes facts from across the Internet’.
The Mountain View, California-based Internet search giant cautioned that Google Squared remains experimental and the technology behind it ‘is by no means perfect.’
