Haven’t you all noticed yet? There is a change in Facebook’s Bar. Yes, many Facebook users have noticed that the Facebook bar on the top is now locked and even if you scroll down the page the navigation bar remains constant. It will be visible all the time. Why these changes in Facebook? What’s the point?

Well, the bar on the top of the screen contains many important features like notifications, messages, friend requests on the left hand side and the home, profile and account bar on the right hand side. This particular feature will allow users to access these important features even if they scroll down the page which previously we used to scroll up to access these options.

If we compare Facebook with Twitter, Twitter also has this option and has used the similar floating design for its navigation bar.

So, I loved it. Did you? Please, share your opinions in the comments.

While using Google’s Chrome you might have noticed that it closes the browser while closing the last tab. Sometimes its fine but sometimes we don’t want that to happen. So here is the solution to this problem. There is an extension named ‘the Chrome Toolbox’ which can help you out here. And in addition to this one issue it can provide a lot more different features.

First thing is to install this extension. Here’s the link : Chrome Toolbox

Then follow these steps :

1. Click the icon to display the menu.

2. Click ‘Options’.

3. On the option’s page check “Don’t close current browser window when closing last tab, create a new tab instead.”

And your done !!

Apart from this simple fix it also provides a lot more interesting features. Like :

Provides a confirmation message before closing multiple tabs.

You can magnify images, view their original size and can set them as wallpaper.

You can drag any playing video out of the window and can watch them in there own window.

Customize the behavior of tabs.

You can save and restore form data which is non-submitted. Helps you to prevent data loss on session expiration.

Launch all bookmarks by single shortcut.

Define Boss key.

Mute all tabs.

and lots more….

Everyone is familiar with Wikipedia, the most popular online encyclopedia. I think anyone who wants to search about any topic on internet search it on Wikipedia after Google. It helps us to get a detailed and well formatted information on our topics.

But sometimes it becomes more convenient to convert these articles or information to a PDF file so that we can read them offline and can store them to our documents and reports.

So here is a simple way of doing this, which converts our wiki articles to a book.

Step 1: Log on to wikipedia.com and “Register” yourself for a free account.

Step 2: Go to “Print/Export” on the left sidebar and click on “Create a Book”.

Step 3 : Now on the top of every page you browse you will have an “Add this page to your book” option. And you can add as many pages to your book as you want.

Step 4 : Finally if you want to view your complete book click on “Show Book” button.

So these were the simple 4 steps by which you can manage your content available on the wiki pages. You can also give a title to your book and can have it printed. The book will be delivered to you costing you some charges per 100 pages.

One of the problem with net surfing is that your search result gets recorded. This makes your database bulky because of storing of user ID cookies, IP addresses, links you visit and other such stuffs. I cannot think of any good reason for storing such data. Thus to solve this problem you have ixquick.

It is mostly presumed by people that their browsing habits are only known to them and they are invisible even while surfing the net. This is truly a misconception as their IP address and other such information are being recorded in the form of cookies. Even in such cases where you want to remain invisible, ixquick has a solution.

Even though many other browsers such as Firefox have “Private Browsing” features which prevents the storing of cookies but does store your IP address. So still you are not an anonymous user, for that your IP address has to be kept to yourself.

The way we think of business has changed throughout history, but never so quickly or dramatically as with modern technology.

The introduction of more accessible electronics, internet tech, and more, have create a revolution in every sector of the market. Here are seven of the most prominent ways that technology has changed the way we approach business.

1. Business on the Go:

Even after the introduction of laptops, the concept of mobile businesses utilities was simply impractical for many. However, thanks to the introduction of more portable systems, mobile internet access, smartphones, and the iPad, business mobility isn’t just possible — it’s crucial.

Much of this centers around the hundreds of thousands of mobile apps on the market today, all of which have their unique properties and benefits.

2. Lowered Costs:

Many apps are taking advantage of new technology to give us the lowest prices ever for age old services; for example, the service known as Line2 allows iPad or iPhone users to set up a second line with unlimited U.S. and Canadian calls for just ten dollars per month. Some apps aren’t just cheap, but free. The ability to get cloud-based document creation through sites like Google docs has cut expenses across the board.

3. Faster Everything:

The increases in the speed of the web means faster access to information, the possibility of getting cloud-based resources on the fly, and getting the job done sooner. New technologies, both in the hardware and software section, have created a framework where work can often be completed in half the time previously required.

4. How We Connect:

The idea of the phone call was a revolution in and of itself, but we’ve taken this to a whole new level. With a huge array of communication methods, including video chat, instant messaging, and social networking, there are more ways to connect than ever before.

5. How We Store Information:

When we moved from hard copies to electronic versions, our data redundancy took a leap forward. However, systems and servers could crash, destroying essential information. Now, we don’t just store information on one system; we can easily access information in the “cloud,” external hard drives, USB drives, or just by emailing important data to ourselves.

Dropbox, for instance, is an app that syncs across your mobile device as well as your desktop/laptop and an online web app.

6. A Lower Capital Threshold:

It’s called “capitalism,” because businesses require resources to get started.

Those who have enough “capital” can establish one or more businesses, giving them an opportunity for innovation and prosperity that may not be available to all. While it’s not like everyone can suddenly start a business, the possibility of both a) entering the marketing (thanks to lower costs) and b) competing in the market (thanks to a more even technological playing field) have lowered the capital threshold dramatically.

7. New World of Marketing:

It’s easier to get in touch with people, whether through radio, television, social media, or other web-marketing campaigns, than ever before. Have you checked out any commercials lately on TV? You’ve probably noticed that Facebook fan page URLs as well as Twitter handles are showing up. Social media marketing is moving into offline advertising.

There’s also something called Microsoft tag- I’m not sure if you’re familiar with it yet, but what it does, is assign a barcode type image that you can use online or offline. You then open up the Microsoft Tag for iPhone and scan the image- bringing you whatever you assign to it. Business information. Videos. URLs. Personal information. Etc.

The world is continuing to change, and new technologies are emerging every day. The way we approach business now is unrecognizable when compared to the view of generations past, and our future will be just as dramatically different.

If you have a high-speed Internet connection to your computer then you can easily afford to make phone calls to any cell phone, or any landline number and even to any other computer located anywhere in the world. All that is required on your part is a download and installation of a software program that will aid to make phone calls via the internet.

Such softwares are Skype, Google Voice or Gizmo5. In addition to a software program you should have a microphone and a stable Internet connection, so the call doesn’t keep dropping after every few seconds and you are able to make a smooth call. The steps to be followed are:

The best option to use is Skype. You can download this application for free and it also allows you to make free computer-to-computer calls. But if you a user who wants to make a call to a landline or a cell phone, then you will need to buy Skype credit which is made available on its website. The call rates will then depend on the country you are calling to.

If you want to use Gizmo5 then after you download and install the software, you will be able to use it simultaneously with your Google account. When using Gizmo5 you can make calls to landline and cell phone numbers at affordable rates.

You can even use a Gmail account to make cell phone and landline calls to anywhere in the world. For the use of this service you just need a valid Gmail account. Add the “Google calls” feature for free. At present i.e. in 2010 you can make free calls to any cell phone or landline number in the U.S. and Canada. But the call rates for other countries are different. For this you don’t need to install a stand-alone application, you can make calls feasibly from your web browser.

The German Federal Office for Security in Information Technology, also known as BSI, issued a statement recommending all the Internet users to replace the Internet Explorer with some other alternative browsers (such as Firefox etc.). This statement was also issued after the China-Google controversy. As of the BSI, IE explorers are more vulnerable to such malicious attacks.

They recommended the users to switch to other browsers; at-least till Microsoft provides a fix for issues like the recent cyber-attack.

McAfee released a report stating that, the IE versions have a critical pitfall that gives the hackers the ease to “perform reconnaissance and gain complete control over the compromised system.”, to which Microsoft declared that its developers are working on a update for the security gap. As per various reports, IE, the most used internet browser till date, is losing the market shares constantly. The reason is simple; Internet Explorer is slower and less secured than the other browsers in market and they are now giving a tough competition to Microsoft after the recent security issues.

The BSI also stated that, the Internet Explorer can’t be kept safe from hackers exploiting browsers and data even if IE is run in “Protected” mode or scripting options are disabled.

Recently, Facebook announced that, it has joined hands with McAfee to provide its millions of users a complimentary 6 month subscription to McAfee Security Software. And after 6 months free subscription if any facebook user is interested enough to continue the subscription then he/she needs to pay a fee for renewal. The fee amount has not been decided yet, though it has been made clear that it will be less than the annual subscription price that is being charged to McAfee’s retail customers.

If your system has some virus, then the McAfee software will ask to run a scan and get rid of the virus before logging in to facebook. This is how both will work in collaboration as mentioned by the Facebook project manager. He also claimed that this is the first time some free social networking site is providing such a facility. The social networking sites like facebook, are the main target of hackers. A new type of susceptibility, as per Security Researcher R. Zilberman is attacking social networking sites. Say you are logging into your facebook account and in another browser tab you have opened one of such sites which have some embedded malwares, then it may happen that the later one can actually steal your data from facebook!!!

Facebook, with McAfee will provide the pleasure of a social networking site along with the security for your machine. This is actually a very appreciable step taken by Facebook. But, I would also like to mention that McAfee software can’t work on MAC OS X or Linux. Though number of people using these operating systems is only about 5/6 percent of the total internet users, but they might lose to cash the benefit from this collaboration.

Twitter.com/BenParr) not only makes it easy to share with others, but helps you claim a little piece of social media space as your own.In order to protect URLs from spammers and squatters, Facebook administrators are instituting a temporary ban from registration against anybody who has created a Facebook Page since May 31st or a regular profile since 3 p.m. EST Tuesday. That ban will be lifted at an as-of-yet unspecified time. If you’re a long-standing Facebooker, though, you should have no problem in signing up a minute after the stroke of midnight (Eastern time) this coming Saturday. There will be an inevitable gold rush for names on June 13th, and thus there will be many disappointments, complaints, and issues to sort out once the system goes live. Nonetheless, this should be a positive step towards making Facebook profiles a more shareable and personal experience.
Rather Facebook should have done it long time back .
